Synapse Center works to actively tackle Senegal’s high unemployment rate by organizing intensive training for the next generation of entrepreneurs and social ventures.

Request

With your support, Synapse will develop the Senegal Promise program, which will provide an intensive 10-month social entrepreneurship training and incubation support for 60 young people equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and perspectives they need to create viable social enterprises.

The
Results

Synapse expects to produce 60 young entrepreneurs with enhanced leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills. In addition, all of the participants will create plans for their own social enterprises and Synapse will help incubate 12 of the most promising businesses.

The
Challenge

Twenty-five percent of Senegalese youth are unemployed. Over 5 million young people are expected to enter the labor market in the next 20 years, making entrepreneurship and job creation critical. Unfortunately, currently, only 2% of young people pursue entrepreneurship.

Solution

Synapse’s Senegal Promise Program offers the training, coaching, and practical hands-on entrepreneurial experiences young people need to develop and manage successful social ventures. The program is a learning-by-doing odyssey that invites young potential entrepreneurs to identify their hearts’ visions and engages them in developing the skills, relationships and practices they need to transform those visions into successful sustainable ventures.

It achieves its mission by helping young people become leaders and entrepreneurs who contribute to the development of their communities. Through all its work, Synapse promotes creative leadership and innovative entrepreneurship as well as personal, organizational, and community development.
